Who we are

If you are a parent or carer of a child at Sciennes Primary School, you can join the Parent  Council. We are governed by a constitution that defines voting members in the following three groups:

1. Office bearers are as follows:

2. Each year stage has a Year Rep to represent the views of parents and carers:

  • Primary 1 - Vacant

  • Primary 2 - Belinda McGhie

  • Primary 3 – Susie Braham

  • Primary 4 – Patricio Troncoso

  • Primary 5 – Chigdem Arslan

  • Primary 6 – Franca MacLeod

  • Primary 7 – Christine Knox & Rebecca Jo-Rushdy

3. The final group of members are the conveners of Parent Council subgroups which focus on particular areas.

Parents and carers can get involved in subgroups even if they choose not to attend Parent Council Meetings. The conveners and their contact details are:

In addition, senior school staff attend the Parent Council as non-voting members:

  • Headteacher – Sharon McGhee

  • Depute Head – Lucy Gallagher

  • Depute Head – Carolyn Anstruther

  • Depute Head - John Armstrong

  • Business Manager – Pamela Gardiner

The clerk to the Parent Council, Amanda Vardy, also attends to take minutes of meetings and has a non-voting role.

Parent Council Subgroups

Sciennes Parent Council has several subgroups where many volunteers help with particular activities.

Our groups are led by conveners who are always happy to discuss their group's work and how you can volunteer to help.

Fundraising and Events Group

We hold fundraising events and activities throughout the school year. The money raised goes towards priorities identified by the school and parent community. Sciennes Parent Council listens to parents' views on what to fund, such as through surveys and class and parent reps.

If like to join, simply sign in at reception and make way to the dining hall after the kids have gone in to school at 9 a.m.
