Acapella Kids (P1-2)

​

A fun singing class where we sing unaccompanied and learn a varied repertoire of traditional and more current songs. We play singing games, learn rounds and partner songs and use simple percussion instruments to help develop a sense of rhythm. The class starts with warm-ups, both physical and vocal and the children will learn correct singing posture, breathing techniques and important listening skills from singing unaccompanied. The children's self-confidence grows through regular opportunities to perform, singing at events in school and in the wider community.

ASDT Drama

​

At Make a Scene we conduct a weekly one-hour club designed to help students with self-expression, communicative development, coordination and self-esteem. Our classes work towards an amazing production put on for families and friends at the end of term.

 

There is a maximum of 15 children per session and the allocation of places will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bike Club

​

Ross Crook and Scott Robertson (the Sciennes Playground Supervisor) will teach children 'bike-ability' on Edinburgh’s quiet hidden routes, as well as fun skills like wheelies and bunny hops. To find out more, please follow this link.

Chess

​

Participants are taught an internationally recognised educational course that is informative, interactive, practical and fun, with the opportunity to test their skills by competing in school matches and chess tournaments.

The club leader is a chess Master, full-time chess teacher/national junior coach and one of Scotland’s top chess players. Some of his students have gone on to become British, European and Commonwealth champions.

Crafty Sewing

​

Sewing has many advantages, it’s therapeutic and helps with fine motor skills. In crafty sewing, we use colourful fabrics and textures to create a wide variety of beautiful items - such as tote bags, toys, and cushion covers, with all materials provided.

Creative Writing

The Creative Writing Club is open to all children from P4-P7 who have an interest in writing.

Writing stories doesn’t have to be scary, it can also be enjoyable! Our objective is to help children gain a greater sense of confidence in their own imagination and abilities.

This is a club for children who need more support in their reading, writing and phonics skills. Children develop their those through a combination of play, games and songs in a fun and enjoyable environment. 

This club is P1-2 only.

German for Native Speakers

This is a club for children who already understand German to practice the language and learn about German culture in a play-based way – a mix of conversation, games and some age-appropriate reading and writing.

This class will be run fully in German, with a recommended age range of P3-P6

Gymnastics

​

A very popular club for all ages and all levels from beginners to advanced. Classes are run by ex-Scottish champion gymnast Gavin Chalmers and his team, a high-level coach with 20 years of experience.

Children receive coaching on apparatus including Floor, Vault, bars, beam, rings, and inflatable tumble tracks, as well as strength and flexibility conditioning with a medal and certificate at each stage.
